THE PEACEMAKERS

There is a lot of turmoil in our present world. Wars and rumors of wars, refugee crisis, natural disasters, brothers at war, communities killing each over land disputes, racism at its height in nations, so much animosity, bitterness and hate, suicides, the list of death and dying goes on. In my country Nigeria, June has been a month of too many deaths. Last week, a young man frustrated with the tough life set himself ablaze in the city of Lagos, these are dire times. Many people are angry and rightly so. However, the Spirit of God has this to say to us in these dark times;

“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.”

God’s call to us in this time is to represent Him as Peacemakers. That is our identity in Him. The message translation says “You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.”

Our Father in Heaven expects and does instruct us through His word to preach and pray Peace to a hurting world. Rather than preach violence or disorder, God says teach them to cooperate, teach them my love, teach them my Peace, share my Joy with everyone, give of yourself and your resources. Help your leaders to make alright.

I know this is tough especially if you have lost loved ones to these very unfortunate circumstances, however the teaching of Christ turns the world view on its head. In Luke 6:29-30 He says; “To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously.” (MSG)

SELAH!

Today let’s represent our Father to the world, being the Peacemakers He has called us to be as His sons and daughters.  His Grace is sufficient. He is with you always.
