CHRISTMAS – God’s Greatest Gift

Christmas – God’s greatest Gift

It’s Christmas!!! I get so excited all the time. I call it my Bestie’s birthday and anyone close to me know that I love celebrating birthdays. Christmas signifies a number of many things for me; love, giving and family. But most importantly it reminds me of when Jesus Christ was sent to Earth to become man and dwell amongst us to fulfil God’s divine purpose of reconciliation with man.
What does Christmas mean to you? Take time and reflect on the beautiful memories of all the Christmases you have spent on this Earth. What has been the central theme all along? Has it become like a religious ceremony?
Let’s look at the purpose of celebrating Christ on December 25th

16 For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.

The fall of man in Genesis started a journey of reconciliation initiated by Man and honored by God, however as time went on, these rituals didn’t serve the divine purpose for which we were created for and God decided to take a big risk and send down His only Son Jesus despite the fact that Man could reject this move by Him and keep to the present plan. It was a gift given out of a reckless and extravagant love God has for His creation. Can you imagine if Jesus went to Earth and decided that he wouldn’t die for these people? God would have lost His only Son and we, an eternal solution to our sinful separation from God.
Christmas is a time to really give thanks to God and reflect on this treasured gift and evaluate what we have done with the gift Jesus. How are we treating Jesus? Do we treasure Him as The Father treasures us? Do we only remember to worship him when Christmas comes or does He dwell in our hearts daily? What are we doing with Jesus?
A gift given in true extravagant love shouldn’t be taken for granted but cherished everyday. Let’s celebrate Christmas everyday by honoring the gift given to us by our Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ is Lord.
