The Dawning Of A New Day – (Package Open! Rejoice! And, Be Glad In It)

Christmas is only two (2) days away, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to receiving wonderful gifts and packages from our loved ones.

Have you ever considered that each new day is a gift from God?

Do you recall the title of this song? The steadfast love of our God never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, Great is your faithfulness oh Lord!!!

This is the day the Lord has made, We will rejoice and be glad in it

I go walking every other day of the week. On those days, I have noticed every morning has its own look and feel. The Holy Spirit pointed this out to me! He made me realize just how different every day is, full of its own promises and possibilities. A new dawn, a new rise, a jolly new day!!!

Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and IMAGINE!! A package is delivered to you from a loved one. Not expecting this, you eagerly tear open the wrapping paper, excited at what may be in the box.

Every day is a gift given to us by God, the Creator of all things. Our breath is not ours to have. If you are awake in the morning, indeed, the day is God-given.

So I ask, how do you greet your gift? with a sour attitude or with delight? Do you unwrap your day with great anticipation, knowing that it contains God’s great promises?Or do you wish that the sun didn’t rise? Do you grudgingly welcome the day, or do you exclaim with joy and praise at the new day and its possibilities? Do you say a big thank you to the giver of the day, or do you simply ignore him? After all, it’s just another day.

God loves us deeply. He wishes that we know that every day is new and is his daily loving gift to us as a father. Psalm 118:24 reminds us that the day is made by Him. He wishes for us to rejoice and be glad in it.So welcome your day differently. It matters to God. As is often said, “never stare a gift horse in the mouth”. Grab the day-gift with both hands and unwrap it with joy. Rejoice at the dawning of a new day. It is a privilege.
