9-11 So Hannah ate. Then she pulled herself together, slipped away quietly, and entered the sanctuary. The priest Eli was on duty at the entrance to God’s Temple in the customary seat. Crushed in soul, Hannah prayed to God and cried and cried—inconsolably. Then she made a vow…”
Until Hannah changed her approach in Shiloh, she did not have her son. Samuel had been available for Hannah in Shiloh in the past years but she needed a change in her approach to obtain him. What did she change? She separated herself and sought the face of God in fervent prayers. Secondly, she prayed the right kind of prayers by making a vow to give the son back to God as a prophet. Perhaps, what you need is to separate yourself from that comfort zone and do what you have never done before in that marriage, career, ministry, relationship, academic pursuit, etc. There are certain benefits you may never enjoy as a child of God until you embrace change as a lifestyle. So, change is compulsory.
One thing you must ensure is that the change is upward and progressive. Did you know that until you change certain aspects of your association, you may be limited? You may have to change that negative mindset into a more positive one as no man can ever be better than his thought pattern. You are a product of the kind of thoughts you have been thinking in t
he past years, so if you want your life to move forward, you must change your thought pattern. You may need to change a particular habit. You were not born with such negative habits so you can change them. Just like you change your kind of clothes, so also you can change your habit. Nobody is permitted to be tied to a particular spot in life; just as Jesus grew, we are all expected to grow beyond where we are but for this to be done, we need to embrace change. Remember, a man who refuses to embrace change, is a man going nowhere.
Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to embrace change as a life style.
Charge for the week: Hebrews 11:8-10 (NIV) “By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left, he had no idea where he was going. By an act of faith, he lived in the country promised him, lived as a stranger camping in tents.”
